Project Reveal: Shortest Commute Project

When a neighbour approached me to have Common Purpose breathe some new life into her living space and guest bedroom, we were thrilled. The backdrop to this design is an unsuspecting Historic home where nothing is square or level and everything tells a story… truly my favourite kind.

When we first started talking about the goals for these spaces, it quickly became clear that our clients share in our belief that homes are meant to be lived in and that nothing should be considered too precious to enjoy in your day-to-day. They wanted the rooms to toe the line between traditional and comfortable, which we were able to do by repurposing much of the existing furniture and letting their silhouettes act as our traditional element. The textiles in this space aren’t fussy, which keeps it down to earth and gives you permission to get comfortable and enjoy the space.

We are so proud of this design because it showcases what can be done without renovating. There aren’t any “before” photos in this post, but I’ll be digging into the design a bit more in future posts and would encourage you to check back - the transformation is incredible and will have you thinking twice before kicking your old sofa to the curb!

Enjoy,

Laura
